Independent Publisher of the Year Pushkin Press is looking for a Production Editor to join our ambitious and close-knit team. This exciting and busy role is an opportunity for a self-starter with a grounding in publishing to work closely alongside our Managing Editor across Pushkin’s adult and children’s imprints, developing their production skills as well as providing key administrative support. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing the day-to-day production of titles from text delivery to finished copies, ensuring that material is produced on time, to budget and to the highest quality 
  • Supporting and working closely with the Managing Editor across all imprints on a variety of fiction, non-fiction, children’s and children’s picture book titles 
  • Management of our reprint and stock transfer schedules 
  • Ordering and updating of eBooks for all titles 
  • Liaising and developing relationships with the sales, design, marketing and publicity teams, authors, translators and freelancers  
  • Administrative tasks relating to production, email and phone queries.  

We are looking for an applicant with at least one year of experience working in production. You will be a keen reader with a demonstrable interest in Pushkin Press’s publishing, and independent publishing in general. You’ll have an energetic and flexible approach to work, be creative, self-motivated, with excellent organisational, time management and planning skills, and strong communication skills. You’ll have meticulous attention to detail, as well as an efficient and positive attitude to admin.  

The role will be based at our central London office, and we are currently working to a hybrid home/office model. Allocated office days for this role are Wednesday plus at least one other day of your choice. Working days are 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday-Friday with flexible working by arrangement.

Salary £26k+ depending on experience
