We’re hiring! Pushkin are looking for an Editorial Assistant

Independent Publisher of the Year Pushkin Press is looking for an Editorial Assistant to join our team. This exciting and busy role is an opportunity for someone with a grounding in publishing to work with our editors across Pushkin’s adult and children’s imprints developing editorial skills as well as providing key administrative support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting editors working on a variety of fiction, non-fiction and children’s titles, and working closely with the Managing Editor, as well as liaising with the sales, design, marketing and publicity teams, authors and translators
  • Proofreading, copy-writing, proof checking and clearing permissions
  • Writing AIs and maintaining the BiblioLive database, preparing sales materials
  • Administrative tasks including minute taking, phone and email queries, post
  • Reading and reporting on manuscripts

This is an entry-level role but industry experience is a bonus. You will be a voracious reader with a demonstrable interest in Pushkin Press’s publishing. You’ll have an energetic and flexible approach to work, be self-motivated with excellent organisational, time management and planning skills, and strong communication skills. You’ll have meticulous attention to detail, as well as an efficient and positive attitude to admin.

The role will be based at our central London office, however there is some flexibility around working from home on an ongoing basis. This role is London-based. We are currently working to a hybrid home/office model. Benefits include 20 days holiday (rising to 25 days with length of service) plus bank holidays, pension, working day 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday-Friday with flexible working by arrangement.
